Harry Hoo & Co. began in 2002, when we commenced making dim sims for our industrial takeaway customers in suburban Melbourne. Our reputation rapidly spread, and soon stores and outlets across Melbourne were stocking our products.

Today as well as our wholesale business, Harry Hoo & Co. is well known at farmers, craft and community markets across Victoria. We have a huge band of loyal customers who have helped us to grow into a thriving business focused on producing mouth-watering Asian food favourites.

The History of the Dim Sim in Australia

Since 1945 Dim Sims have been a favourite in Australia.

Elizabeth Cheong’s father William Wing Young, who is believed to have produced the most widely used modern recipe in 1945 in his restaurant, Wing Lee.

Harry Hoo & Co products tries to encapsulate the authenticity of the original Dim Sim, using quality and fresh ingredients. Harry Hoo & Co uses low fat meat and local farm products, where practicable.

“My father was the first to create the style and shape and the commercial production of the dim sim. He chose the thick skin for ease of transport and used to deliver then in his chevy to the football where he set up in competition with the Four-and-twenty pie! Before long his factory was producing thousands of them for sale throughout Australia.”
